Lake Forest Beach is a free day-use park located in the Lake Forest Glen neighborhood, just a few miles from Tahoe City. This secluded beach features a sandy and pebbly shoreline, offering spectacular views of Mount Tallac and the surrounding mountains. It's an ideal spot for launching paddleboards, kayaks, or windsurfing equipment. The area is also great for birdwatching and swimming, with amenities like horseshoe pits, picnic tables, and grills available for public use. In the summer, you’ll find unparalleled opportunities to photograph vibrant fields of lupine, as brilliant purple wildflowers blanket the lowland shore, typically blooming from mid-July to mid-August. In drought years, you might see these flowers start to bloom as early as late May or June.

Dog Friendly: Facing Lake Tahoe, you’ll find the sign for Lake Forest Beach; the dog-friendly beach area is located on the right side. The left side is marked “No Dogs Allowed.” Make sure to stay on the right (west) side of the beach. You’ll know you’re in the correct spot when you cross the small bridge and see the dispenser for plastic bags, allowing dog owners to clean up after their pets. The water in this area is shallow but still cold. While you’re there, check out other Lake Tahoe summer activities and refer to the Lake Tahoe events calendar to see what other activites may be going on in the area.
