Vikingsholm is situated at the head of Emerald Bay in Lake Tahoe, California. This stunning "castle" is a remarkable fusion of Nature's breathtaking beauty and human architectural innovation. The foundation of Vikingsholm was laid in 1928, with construction completed in 1929 by a team of 200 workers.

Vikingsholm was designed as a summer home by Mrs. Lora Josephine Knight. Some parts of the structure utilize traditional construction techniques, featuring no nails or spikes. Most of the building is crafted from materials sourced locally from Lake Tahoe. While Mrs. Knight is renowned for creating Vikingsholm, she and her husband also played significant roles as primary supporters of Charles Lindbergh's historic non-stop solo flight across the Atlantic in 1927.
