Nestled in on the west shore of Lake Tahoe lies Homewood, known for some of the oldest and most prestigious estates on the Lake. Homewood offers something for everyone any time of the year from the popular Homewood Mountain Resort, picturesque beaches, miles of hiking and biking trails, and the full-service Obexer’s Boat Company and Marina.

During the summer months, Chambers Landing serves as a premier destination for being the oldest bar on Lake Tahoe. Whether you are enjoying the sun with your furry friend on the public beach or coming in on the boat everyone must try the famous Chamber’s Crush. They also serve a wide selection of items at the casual grill and a lake-view restaurant. Looking for a hike offering breathtaking views or a place to mountain bike along the lake? Venture just a mile north to Blackwood Canyon. The pebble beach across from the canyon is also a great spot to bring your dog for a swim. Just 5 miles away, Tahoe City unfolds with its lively eateries, boutiques, cultural events, and more, catering to you and your family.

When the snow starts to fall you are in the perfect location being just minutes away from Homewood Mountain Resort, featuring 2,000 skiable acres. With Ellis Peak sheltering the entire mountain from the high ridge winds no need to worry about “wind hold” at this mountain when everyone else is. Ever wanted to ride in a snowcat and get fresh tracks in the backcountry? Homewood Snowcat Adventures will get you access to 750 acres of train on the flanks of Ellis Peak, above the resort’s traditional ski area boundary with a licensed guide! Great stay, super nice house

Great stay, super nice house, nice decor, and fully stocked kitchen so we could cook. The only challenge was getting up and down the driveway. Since it was snowy and icy our SUV had zero traction coming up the driveway one night so we had to leave the car at the bottom of the driveway, and on top of that all five of us slipped and fell multiple times trying to walk up.However the second night, the driveway and nearby roads were all cleared of snow and ice so that was much better!

Solid West Shore Rental

Overall, we enjoyed staying at Mod Haus for two weeks in July. Great location and overall comfortable stay. Property was clean and well appointed. Neighborhood was very quiet and cul de sac location meant little to no traffic which was great. However, while described as having an "upsloping driveway", even in summer it was somewhat difficult to navigate and not obvious from the pictures of its steepness or condition. The internet was slow (less than 5MB download / 1MB upload speeds). Not sure if it's a limitation of available service or subscription but internet speeds were challenging with a family of four with intermittent work duties. On a positive note, streaming TV options were great. Internal temperature at Mod Haus is an issue on hot days. The east and south sides of the house are exposed and while the large windows are great, they create a magnifying glass effect inside during the day. Maybe we were there on some hotter than average days but even the moderate days were very warm inside. Provided fans were welcomed. Nevertheless, the layout, living room, bedrooms and bathrooms, and kitchen made for an enjoyable stay.
